Alex K. pushed 3 new stems — Review & Merge

A new kind of collaboration platform. Purpose-built for music producers who work across DAW boundaries.

0.1

Cross-DAW collaboration

Ableton, FL Studio, Logic — it doesn't matter. Work with any producer regardless of their DAW. No conversion, no compromise.

0.2

Real-time stem sync

Push stems to your collaborator's timeline instantly. No bouncing, no zipping, no uploading to Google Drive. Just commit and sync.

0.3

Version control for music

Branch, merge, and diff your sessions like code. See exactly what changed, resolve conflicts visually, and never lose a take.

1.0Export

3 hours of stem export, reduced to one click.

Select your project, hit export. Every track is automatically soloed, bounced, named, and organized. No manual bouncing, no babysitting.

Stems are named using industry-standard conventions. Five naming templates available, following AES guidelines for session interchange.

Lossless audio quality. Every stem includes BPM, key, time signature, and classification metadata embedded in the file.

Stems are automatically categorized — drums, bass, synths, vocals, FX — using an on-device neural network. 89% accuracy, zero cloud processing.

2.0Collaborate

Work together across any DAW, in real time.

Your collaborator uses FL Studio, you use Ableton. Commit stems from your DAW, they appear in theirs — automatically mapped to the right tracks.

See who's in the session, what they're working on, and when they push changes. WebRTC peer-to-peer for instant transfer.

Obra scans both producers' plugin inventories, identifies shared and unshared plugins, and inserts stems at the optimal point in the signal chain.

Obra doesn't replace your DAW — it sits between them. A neutral abstraction layer that lets every producer keep their workflow.

3.0Merge

Git-style version control, built for music.

New tracks auto-merge. Modified tracks offer keep-mine or keep-theirs. Only true conflicts need manual review. Most merges are fully automatic.

Create branches for experiments — try a different arrangement, swap the bass, rework the verse. Merge the best version back when you're ready.

See exactly what changed, bar by bar. 16 content hashes per bar enable a visual diff overlay — music's answer to git diff.

After merge, Obra regenerates a valid native DAW project file. Open it in your DAW — everything is exactly where it should be.

How it works

Three steps to your first session.

01

Install the plugin

Drop ObraTrack on every channel in your DAW. It captures audio via OSC — zero latency, zero CPU overhead.

02

Invite your collaborator

Share a room link. They install Obra, open the room, and their DAW is now connected to yours. Any DAW.

03

Create together

Commit changes, push stems, merge edits. Everything syncs in real time. No bouncing, no file management.

Built for the producers who've been waiting for this.

I spend more time bouncing stems than actually making music. If this works, it changes everything.

Producer

LA-based, Ableton user

Half the people I want to collab with use FL. I use Logic. So we just... don't collab. That's the problem.

Producer

Multi-DAW user

Version control for audio? That's the dream. I've lost count of how many 'final_final_v3' sessions I have.

FAQ

Questions & answers

At launch, Obra supports Ableton Live and FL Studio. Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, and Bitwig are on the roadmap. About 80% of our codebase is already DAW-agnostic — adding new DAWs is an integration task, not a rewrite.

No. Obra is a companion app + VST3 plugin that sits alongside your existing DAW. You never leave the software you know. Think of it as the collaboration infrastructure layer that no individual DAW vendor is incentivized to build.

Obra parses your DAW's native project file (ALS for Ableton, FLP for FL Studio), normalizes it into a universal format, and syncs stems and metadata between collaborators. When you receive changes, Obra regenerates a valid native project file for your DAW with all the new content in place.

Obra's Plugin Differential Engine scans both producers' plugin inventories, identifies shared and unshared plugins, and handles the translation. Shared plugins transfer with full presets. Unshared plugins are represented as audio stems at the correct position in the signal chain.

Obra is local-first. Your audio lives on your machine. Stems are synced to collaborators via peer-to-peer (WebRTC) when possible, with cloud relay (Cloudflare R2) as fallback. All audio is 24-bit FLAC — lossless, always.

We're finalizing pricing. Expect a free tier for basic stem export, and paid tiers for full cross-DAW collaboration, version control, and team features. Early waitlist members will get founding rates.

We're targeting a beta launch in the coming months. Waitlist members get first access. Join the waitlist to secure your spot.

The initial launch is macOS. Windows is planned and on the roadmap. The core architecture is cross-platform — it's primarily the UI layer and system integrations that need porting.
